PEDRITO LOPEZ is one of the most complete musicians of his generation born in Venezuela. He is a versatile Pianist/Keyboardist, Musical Director, Symphonic and Pop Orchestrator, Arranger, Musical Producer and Show Producer, with a successful profesional career that spans beyond three decades.
He studied music and piano since 4 years old, and later he entered at “Escuela Superior de Música José Angel Lamas” at Caracas (Venezuela). Later in life he studied Jazz, Orchestration and Conducting at Manhattan School of Music (New York).
He’s been working as a full-time professional musician since 1975, and one of his main jobs had been as pianist/keyboardist and musical director for many venezuelan and latin stars such as CHUCHO AVELLANET, CHEO FELICIANO, MIRLA CASTELLANOS, SOLEDAD BRAVO, GUILLERMO DAVILA, OLGA GUILLOT, LUCHO GATICA, among many others.
As a jazz musician, Pedrito has played with such great names as DIZZY GILLESPIE, PAQUITO D’RIVERA (whom he has toured and recorded with), RANDY BRECKER, NESTOR TORRES, STANLEY TURRENTINE and ARTURO SANDOVAL among others, and has played at the most important international jazz festivals.
In his native Venezuela, Pedrito Lopez as a recording sesión player has been included on more of 400 recordings (jingles, back-up tracks, film scores, etc).
As orchestral arranger, Pedrito Lopez has a 18 year relationship with ORQUESTA SINFONICA DE VENEZUELA, making for them more than 400 arrangements and orchestral transcriptions, and has worked as a “Pops” conductor in more of 70 concerts.
