Joyce Hurley and Derrick Walker are both American citizens living in Europe.

Each with 40 years of experience in the entertainment business.

Both will be preforming on Silja Line's Silja Serenade from October 16th to November 30th.

Both artists are free for long term engagements after December 3rd

Joyce Hurley's performances are currently centered in Sweden (Grand Hotel, Stockholm,

Casino Cosmopol, Stockholm, and Scandic Hotels throughout Sweden), Norway(Hurtigruten

and Color Lines), Switzerland (Hotel Post, Zermatt), Monaco (Hotel de Paris), and Italy (Costa Cruise Lines).

From basic piano studies at the Detroit Art Center Music School, she went on to obtain a

Bachelor of Music Degree in piano performance from the University of South Carolina and a

Master of Music Degree in theory and composition from the University of South Carolina in

conjunction with the University of Sydney in Australia. She also completed other postgraduate

studies at the Conservatory of New South Wales,Australia.

Miss Hurley has entertained as a solo pianist and vocalist all over the world, beginning in

Chicago, where she played in some of the city's finest hotels and restaurants such as the

Hilton, Radisson and Marriott, as well as Eugene's and Sage's, among others, before entering the international circuit. Since then,

Joyce has performed widely in Sweden, Norway,

Denmark, Germany, France, Switzerland, Greece, Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and

Australia. she has also played on a variety of cruise ships including the Birka Princess and

those of the Silja, Viking, Color, Stena, Portuscali and Hurtigruten Lines.

Derrick Roy Walker AKA Big Walker plays Tenor, Alto Saxophone and Harmonica.

Derrick, with little more than then a high school education and two years of college at the

College of Marin, California, has toured the world and backed up some very famous people in

the blues, such as Luther Tucker, Lowell Fulson, Percy Mayfield, Big Mama Thornton, Sonny Roads, Jimmy Mc Cracklin and Sugar Pie De Santos. Derrick has also played with Michael Bloomfield and Eric Bibb.

Derrick began playing with a band called the Soul Rebels (1981), who were working for Bill

Graham as a warm up band in Bill's nightclubs. They fronted acts such as The Dead

Kennedy's,The Ramones, Greg Kihn, The Beat and many others. The Soul Rebels were

considered to be San Francisco's most popular band at the time.

Derrick performed two and one half months together with Joyce Hurley on the Silja Serenade.

Most recently, Derrick has completed two three month contracts with his own band at the Hotel

Muse in Bangkok. He is recommended by Nicolas Perth, General Manager, and Caroline

Trichet, Manager of the Hotel Muse. They say:
