Ms. Stevie Woods & Co. Resume
Mrs. Stephanie Burks (Woods) was born in Cleveland Ohio, and studied music and the performing arts since the age of eight. She has performed jazz internationally for the last eight years.
Since June 2007, Ms. Woods has performed with a five piece jazz band in the Philippines, where she had the opportunity of performing with Beyonce band. Within the past two years Ms. Woods has performed in Dubai, (middle east) at the Madinat Jumeriah Resort, as well as the Jumeirah Beach Resort where she performed with the international six-piece band “Cold Sweat.” She and the six piece band completed a contract with Inter-Continental Hotel. Ms. Woods also completed a Jazz Duo in Muscat, Oman. Prior to those engagements performed in Korea and China. She studied classical piano, music appreciation, and theater at Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, Ohio. Her later education included attendance at Cuyahoga Community College, Lorain Community College and the Cleveland Settlement of Music. During her high school and college years, Ms. Woods studied in many theaters and performed in musicals. The Hanna Theater was her first paid performance. Numerous engagements were also performed at Karamu Theater and Cleveland Convention Center. A big influence in Ms. Wood’s music has been her mother, who listened to great jazz singers like Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Bessie Smith, and Nina Simone. Her mother also listened to classical, country and gospel music. Ms. Woods (a jazz vocalist) has put together her own entertainment agency, “ALL THATJAZZ4YOU PRODUCTIONS.” Her current projects include working on her own recording studio and label. Ms. Woods coordinated and performed in her first All That & Jazz Cultural Show, featuring cultural bands, Reggae, Latin, Blues and Jazz. Ms. Woods first recorded “All My Love” with her first original home band; which included Mr. Melvin Burks (trumpet) Mr. Eddie Baccus Sr.(organ) and Mr. Cecil Rucker (vibes), Mr. Eddie Baccus Jr.(sax) from “Pieces of Dreams” with Mr. Gregg Bandy (drums), and Toni Palitzzi (guitar) . A few of her opening performances were as follows: Alex Bounghon at Tangiers, CCC Jazz Festival “The Women in Jazz’; opened for Mr. Freddie Jackson, and while in Dubai, Ms. Woods also opened for Michael Bolton. Ms. Woods performed a private engagement for the author, Ms. Toni Morrison at her conference. Ms. Wood’s repertoire of music spans from jazz to blues, contemporary, gospel, latin, reggae, light rock, country, motown and old school funk.
