Aj Quashie Resume
My name is Harley Quashie a.k.a Ajmal. I am a Music Artist / multi-instrumentalist, Bassist, composer and arranger / performer, born in the southern part of Trinidad and Tobago, there I grow and was influenced by Calypso / Soca music. I had moved to Ontario Canada there I had studied at Humber Collage and took the Composer Arranger correspondence course with Berkley Music School Boston and worked with various bands that played different Genres of music example, Pop, Reggae, R&B, Calypso, Latin, Dance, Gospel / Jazz Places Played: The Bamboo Club Toronto, Toronto Jazz Festival, Humber Collage, Cuties Hideaway, Ontario Place, Montreal Jazz Festival, Saint Lucia Jazz Festival, Toronto Caribbean Festival, Trinidad & Tobago Queens Hall Jazz Concert, Toured with the Halifax Nova Scotia Mass Quire and much more I was fortunate to have worked with Zacki Zanda him being the most prominent at the time in the Genre of Jazz/Calypso Jazz; during that time I had personally met a few named players like George Duke, Stanley Clark, Byron Miller, Sun-Rah and others, these players also influences the way that I think musically. Today my focus is on the development of this concept where as using a lead Bass in the Genre of Soca Jazz Pop. I had recently released my first CD that will help to promote this Genre. Since the role of bass playing has evolved from it's original function of backing to lead (Stanley Clarks responsibility) I find it quite an interesting concept for Calypso / Soca music. I'm in the early stages of the development and will continue this endeavor. Listen to my Art work here: www.myspace.com/socajpop | ||
